Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?
It's easy to move around with a light double pushchair, especially if you have kids of varying age groups. They are easy to fold, steer and carry up and down the stairs.

The majority of the lightweight double pushchairs we tested are side-by-side designs and are generally recommended for children that can sit up unassisted because they tend to lack car seat integration. That said there are some exceptions. Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double are both top choices that have recline that can be adjusted in both seats, a large canopy and padded 5-point harnesses. They're also easy to maneuver despite their larger footprint, and are ideal for parents worried about fitting through doors.
The Cybex Duet is a little different due to its clever frame that expands widthways to add a second seat, making it smaller than other pushchairs with side-by-side seating on the market. It is able to pass through doors that are standard and is easy to maneuver in public transportation. It can also be used as an jogger which is perfect when you are planning to use it with an infant car seat or baby carrier.
The UPPAbaby Vista v2 double is another fantastic side-by-side double that is lightweight. It allows for even more customization thanks to the modular frame. The clever design allows the conversion of a double or single buggy by adding two carrycots or car seats for children. It can even accommodate twins. If you're looking for a compact and lightweight double, you can try the egg2 which folds to the size of a tiny suitcase. It can be used as a double or a single by adding two baby car seats or carrycots. Our home testers were impressed with how easy it was to maneuver even with a full load of kids.
Even though they are lightweight double pushchairs side-by-side do not guarantee safety. If your children are at the same age and stage, they may still fight about who sits in which seat. And if they're taller than each other, a tandem style might be better for them, as it lets them confront each other.
Tandem
While side-byside models might be more appropriate for siblings who are the same age, tandem lightweight double pushchairs have their own charms. They can take a bigger car seat, and some even have convertible seats or an additional carrycot that is located in the middle. They are generally more spacious and easy to move into and out of, although their baskets are typically smaller than those of single buggies. They often have larger canopy, peekaboo windows and even padded leg cushions.
The iCandy Peach tandem is another excellent example of a light tandem that offers great value. The fabric is a bit less expensive than some of our top-rated doubles. But, it looks great and is easy to use. Its one-handed folding is awe-inspiring. Even though it requires some practice, Kirstie from our Lab called it "genius". It's not possible to fold it with the carrycot attached however, the mechanism for attaching and taking it off it is simple and fast.
Tandem lightweight double strollers will usually make tighter turning than side-byside models. However, they may be more difficult to navigate on uneven surfaces and curbs. They can also be a little slower to speed up and are heavier to move, which could put strain on your back.
Another alternative is a convertible double buggy that starts out as an individual and then you can add adapters to make it into a double. This can include an additional seat or carrycot on the front or the kids can be seated side-byside. Some can also consider adding a buggyboard, which can help an older child keep pace with younger siblings or brothers.

Convertible
